Dance and Drum Workshops in Senegal and Austria

Djoutala Seydi offers dance workshops with live percussion for adults and children (schools) in Austria. Together with other Senegalese artists, he is present at the most important festivals under the name “Tily-Boo” and provides insights into West African culture with his performances.

On the Kafountine peninsula in Senegal, Djoutala has set up the “TILYBOO” training center and created a unique space to experience West African culture live. Professional artists from Casamance provide authentic and easy access to African dance and the complex and fascinating rhythms of African music. Drumming workshops, excursions and collaborations with other artists round off the program.

African dance focuses on the rich symbolism of gestures. These are part of festivals and rituals as well as everyday life.
It is not so much about learning exact sequences of steps and movements, but rather about experiencing the rhythms through repetition and individual design. The unique energy generated by African dance becomes tangible.
