DJOUTALA SEYDI

I come from the south of Senegal, the Casamance. I started dancing as a child. I was a member of the ballet “Woulaba” – Ziguinchor and ‘Melody’ – Dakar and I am the choreographer and artistic director of “Doman Doman”, an 18-member dance and drum ensemble in Senegal.
With great empathy and didactic skill, I teach an appealing mixture of contemporary and traditional African dance in my Afrodance workshops.
I set up the “Tily-Boo” training center on the Kafountine peninsula in Senegal with the local artists. My vision was to create a space where people from all over the world can experience West African culture live and an exchange between different cultures is possible.
Since 2001 I live and work in Vienna / Austria, among others for:
- “Afrikatage” – Vienna
- “Impuls Tanz” – Vienna
- “Chiala Afrika Festival” – Graz
- “Kasumama Festival” – Moorbad Harbach, Waldviertel
- “Spirit Fire” – Phoenix Productions, Vienna
- “Menschen für Menschen” – Festspielhaus, St. P ölten
- “UNO-Ball” – Hofburg, Vienna
- “Festival der Kulturen” – Böhmischer Prater, Vienna
